This saw the Red Hot Chili Peppers
return to the Festival 5 years after their historic performance in
the typhoon, which ended the first Fuji Rock in Tenjin-yama. Along
with the headline artists this year saw new up-and-coming bands
break through such as Music, BRMC, The White Stripes and Chitoshi
Hajime.
The Palace of Wonder, unique midnight summer area of the Festival, was created. Art installations by Joe ‘Mutoid Waste' Rush, Karaoke campsite produced by Joe Strummer, and 'The Globe of Death' with a few motor bikes running inside a small metal globe all contributed to create this area unique space.
Recycled paper plates and participation in 'Carbon neutral movement' started this year as did the Naeba independence boardwalk - a barrier free natural walking trail across the wooded areas of the site.
